The Art of GUESS

GUESS Philippines tapped 10 artists to each design a denim jacket for their event, The Art of GUESS. I was invited to be one of those artists. The jackets were auctioned off, with the proceeds donated to World Vision Philippines.

The concept for the jacket design was inspired by painting my favorite subject in portraits, which are the eyes. Believing in the old adage, “The eyes are the windows to the soul”, I apply this as well in my paintings, drawing attention to the eyes to bring character and life to my portraits. Through this, I explore the idea of painting a portrait by the representation of one eye only , as seen in this work, and in past and present works.

This jacket, along with 9 more jackets made by various local artists, were exhibited in a 2-day show at Whitespace Manila in Makati last July 28-29, 2018.
